Sources have reported that Emirates, one of the world's biggest airlines, would be laying off more number of pilots and cabin crew on Wednesday.

According to Reuters, an Emirates spokeswoman confirmed the airline's statement on Tuesday that some employees had been laid off, but she declined to comment beyond that; thus, no further details were provided.

The Dubai state airline has already laid off hundreds of pilots and thousands of cabin crew on Tuesday in a bid to prevent financial strains caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the sources on Tuesday, more redundancies were expected this week, and that includes both Airbus (AIR.PA) A380 and Boeing (BA.N) 777 pilots.
