The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the payment of stipends to the exiting N-Power beneficiaries under the National Social Investment Programmes.

The government disclose don Thursday that it had approved for the payment of the outstanding stipends for the exited N-Power Batches A and B beneficiaries.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, said the approval for payments up to June 2020 had been forwarded to the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation for the final checks and payments.

According to Umar-Farouq, the only outstanding approval waiting to be forwarded to the office of the Accountant-General was the payment of July 2020 stipends for the Batch B beneficiaries.

However, the humanitarian ministry, in a statement, noted that the AGF's office omitted about 14,000 beneficiaries during the March to June payment. It pointed out that those omitted could be among those rejected by the GIPMIS payment platform.

It said that the rejection was due to discrepancies identified with the accounts as conveyed to the ministry by the AGF's office.

The statement said based on the report from the AGF's office, any beneficiary receiving payment from other government platforms would be rejected by the Government Integrated Financial Management System.

"Hence their payment will be withheld", the ministry said via the statement issued by the Minister's Special Assistant to Media, Nneka Anibeze.

It further read, "However, if the rejection was done in error, those affected should rest assured that they will be paid all that is due to them as soon as the error is rectified by the AGF's office".

The Minister, Umar-Farouq, further explained that the Batch A and B N-Power beneficiaries knew from the onset as they were informed that the programme runs for 24 months.

The N-Power is a job creation and empowerment programme which the Federal Government created in 2015 under the direction of the National Social Investment Office as an avenue for youth empowerment.

The 2020 N-Power registration for eligible individuals commenced June 26 2020
