The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu has announced that the sum of N500,000 will be given to anyone who can provide useful information about Sunday Shodipe, a serial killer who escaped from police custody on Sunday.

This was contained in a statement signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gbenga Fadeyi.

The statement reads, “Handsome reward of N500,000 awaits whoever gives useful information for the arrest of the suspected serial killer at Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, one Sunday Shodipe”.

CP Nwachuwu further stated that “Consequently, the general public is hereby implored to arrest and immediately hand him over to the nearest Police Station for necessary action.”

The command also gave out phone lines to the public. The lines are 08035632410 and 07066003536.

Meanwhile, all conventional and local security agencies have combined to ensure the suspect is rearrested

The suspect Shodipe had earlier been arrested in connection with a series of killings in Akinyele local government area of the state.

He and two others were paraded last month in connection with killings of Barakat Bello, Azeezat Shomuyiwa and others.

Oyo State Police Command on Sunday made the announcement, warning the public to take caution.

The command gave the warning via a statement on Sunday by its spokesman, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi.

Fadeyi said that Shodipe escaped after he had been charged to court.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, Shodipe was kept in police custody instead of jail. He escaped and had killed another woman within 48hrs of his escape.
