Man sells ex-girlfriend's twins for N150,000
A 31-year-old man identified as Chijioke Chukwulota has been apprehended by Anambra State police command for allegedly selling twin babies of his ex-girlfriend.
It was gathered that Chukwulota had impregnated his former girlfriend and abandoned her, but when he received the news that she had been delivered of a set of twins, he invited her and the two months old babies.
He later stole the babies from their mother and sold them to a 31-year-old woman, Tina Ibeato in Imo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Awka, the state capital.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, the suspect sold the twin babies from an ex-girlfriend whom he (suspect) impregnated for N150,000 to a child trafficking syndicate.
“Following credible intelligence, police operatives attached to the Command’s Special Anti-cult Unit arrested one Chijioke Chukwulota, 31, of Imo State, but resides at Uruagu village, Nnewi, Anambra State.
“The suspect lured his ex-girlfriend whom he allegedly impregnated and stole the twin baby girls, aged about two months after she gave birth to them through a cesarean section and sold same children to one Tina Ibeato, 31, of Imo State at N150,000.
“The two suspects have been arrested and the children recovered in good condition."
Mohammed said an investigation is ongoing on the matter after which the suspects would be prosecuted.
