Nigerians, IGP react to the video of a lady harassed by police officer

The angry reaction of Nigerians to the viral video of a young lady who was being harassed in the name of questioning by a police officer has gotten the attention of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu who has condemned the act and ordered for an investigation into the issue.

Yesterday night had a twitter user @OlayinkaOlaoni1 post the videos of a young girl being questioned by a group of police officers who she said are the Ibadan arm of the Nigerian Police.

She captioned the video, "This is harassment by the Ibadan arm of the Nigerian Police. Even if she's guilty, what sort of questions and harassment is this?

Angry Nigerians have reacted to the video as showed much annoyance at the sort of question the police officer in question asked her. One of the questions was if she was a virgin or not.

Meanwhile, some well-meaning Nigerians had tagged different relevant authorities to the post, including the NPF. The NPF, through its official Twitter handle, had responded saying the matter had gotten to the IGP.

The tweet read, "The Inspector General of police has ordered discreet investigations into the circumstances surrounding the dehumanizing treatment meted out to a female citizen in the above viral video.

"The IGP, while condemning the act as directed the commencement of comprehensive investigations aimed at unravelling the true identity of the perpetrators with a view to bringing them to justice.

"Members of the public are hereby assured that any member of the force found culpable in the incident will be made to face appropriate sanctions.
