Through its Minister Mr Adamu Adamu, the Federal Ministry of Education has stated that there may be a further suspension of schools due to the second wave of COVID-19.

The Minister of Education Adamu revealed the further suspension on Monday in Abuja at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) joint national briefing on COVID-19.

According to Adamu, the resumption of schools initially announced on January 18, 2021, will depend on the country's indicator of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that the resumption date is still under review and will be decided based on the rising or lowering of COVID-19 pandemic cases in societies.

“When we decided on that date, it was just a target toward what we are working on, " Adamu said.

"Of course we are keeping it in view and looking at what is happening in the society and then it is supposed to be subject to constant review.

"Even today at the PTF meeting, we looked at the rising figures and thought we should probably take another look at it. On the Jan.18, 2021 date for schools resumption, we are reviewing it," he added.
