All schools in Lagos State to resume on October 19

Lagos State government has announced that all schools in Lagos including pre-primary, daycare, kindergarten and nursery schools pupils should resume school on October 19 2020.

The resumption of all schools in Lagos State was disclosed by Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo on Monday, October 12, 2020, at Ikeja.

According to the commissioner, the decision to reopen all schools was made after a long and thorough discussion and consultation with Lagos State stakeholders, including safety professionals and nursery schools owners.

Mrs Folasade said that the full resumption of the whole schools in Lagos marks the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic session after the final classes resumed schools in August.

Folasade also advised that all public and private schools make sure that all the safety protocols and guidelines are put in places for schools when it resumes in October.

She added that the Office of Education Quality Assurance would continue to monitor and evaluate schools to make sure that they are complying with guidelines stipulated by the Federal Government.

“All public and private schools are strongly advised to put safety first by adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols and hygiene guidelines as instructed by the state government through the Ministry of Education.

"The Office of Education Quality Assurance will continue to monitor and evaluate schools’ preparedness,” she added.
