Buju: The emergence of Africa's rising star

The newest kid on the block, Buju who has adopted a new name BNXN, intoxicated Nigerians with his unique lullaby sound that can put even the most restless heart at ease.

An exceptional artist and performer BNXN, is a storm that no one saw coming.

Buju is Nigeria's fast rising singer and songwriter.

Latest musical sensation Daniel Benson is a 23year old Nigerian singer and songwriter popularly known as Buju(Beautiful Underneath Just Understood)or BNXN.

Born in 1998 in Lagos State before moving to Ogun State, the Nigerian superstar is Akwa Ibom State.

The vocalist and songwriter came into the limelight after he requested that the audience help him tag Zlatan Ibile to a viral recording session video post so that he could dash him a free very.

Fortunately for the fast-rising singer, that wish came to pass.

After BNXN's breakthrough moment with Zlatan Ibile on the song "Spiritual," which earned him a nomination in the “Rookie of the Year” category at Nigeria’s HipTV Headies Awards the same year.

The singer went ahead to receive a win at the City People Music Awards for “Revelation of the Year” (2020).

 BNXN was signed under Burna Boy's Spaceship records in 2020. The 23year old also featured Burna Boy on his remix single L'enu, which served as his anthem and debut.

The Afro-fusion singer has gradually begun his ascent on the ladder of fame. During Wizkid's O2 arena concert in London, Buju performed before an audience of 15000 people courtesy of the Afro beat star on the song " Mood."  

 The sleeper hit from BNXN got fans screaming in excitement at the concert in London.

Apple music announced Buju as Africa's rising artist.

In November, BNXN was named Apple Music’s “Africa Rising artist,” an exclusive artist most prominent program aimed at recognizing, showcasing, and promoting rising talents and introducing the next generation of African superstars.

Other recipients in the past of Apple Music's African rising star program include; Omah Lay, Manu Worldstar, Tems, Amaarae, Ayra Starr, Yaw Tog, Blxckie, and Nikita Kering.

Creating hit songs from collaborations with Africa’s most prominent entertainers like Wizkid, Timaya, Burna Boy, Zlatan, Ladipoe, Buju has gained global recognition.

Recently the Nigerian singer got nominated for the prestigious Grammy awards following his feature on Wizkid’s Made In Lagos Album: Deluxe Edition, which was nominated for Best Global Music Album.

Ending the year on a high note, Buju is set to stun fans with his debut concert on the 22nd of December, 2021, at the Balmoral Convention Center, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.

The “Sorry I’m Late” concert in December in partnership with showbiz/events giant – Achievas Entertainment Limited promises to showcase the genius of Buju as he will be performing existing hit songs and new songs from his latest body of works.
