Many of these musicians have constantly set Nigeria apart on the global map as the King of music around the world. 

Even more interesting is that these talented Nigerian artists have solid educational backgrounds from top universities around the world.

Some gained this opportunity because they were born there and others simply made the decision to bag a degree from a foreign University.

Naira Marley

1. Naira Marley.

Azeez Adeshina Fashola also called Naira Marley is the gang leader of the Marlians movement.

A Nigerian musician known for his suggestive lyrics had his secondary education at Walworth school. 

Graduating with a distinction in business from Peckham Academy Naira Marley went on to study Business Law at the  Crossways college.

The controversial singer teamed up with Olamide and Lil Kesh to release single "Issa Goal", which became the theme song for the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in December 2017.

Naira Marley has also released other singles such as his infamous " Am I a yahoo boy" which got him arrested by the EFCC in 2019.  Naira has other songs to his name, Soapy, Lord of Lamba and sexually suggestive viral hit "Coming".

2. Tiwa Savage

African bad girls and Queen of Afrobeats Tiwa Savage relocated at age 11  with her family to England. A graduate of Business administration from Kent university, Tiwa Savage has received international recognition for her music .The mother of one released her song "Somebody's Son" with American singer, Brandy last year, 2021.

3. Falz

Folarin Falana is the son to renowned lawyers and human right activists Funmi and Femi Falana. He is a Nigerian rapper also known as Falz.

A seasoned actor and songwriter Falz attended Okashore International school and St Leo's catholic primary school in Osun state for his primary and secondary education. He later graduated from the University of England where he studied Law.

Banky W

4. Banky W

Adesua Etomi's singer husband Bankole Wellington was born in the United States of America.

Famous for his stage name Banky W, the singer, songwriter and actor had his primary education in Nigeria but moved to Rensselaer polytechnic institute, on a scholarship, to study Industrial Engineering. Banky W  started his record label E.M.E in 2002 while studying industrial Engineering. 

In 2009 he returned to Nigeria to start a  record label in Lagos where he signed artists like Niyola, Shaydee, Skales and Wizkid to the label at the time

He got his big break with his debut studio album, Back in the Building released in 2005. Banky W wrote Etisalat Nigeria's  first theme song titled "0809ja for life".

Teni the Entertainer

5. Teni Makanaki

Teniola Apata, aka Teni Makanaki is one of Nigeria's finest music talents. Renowned for her powerful vocals, Teniola became popular on  the music scene after releasing the single "Fargin" in September 2017.

Teni attended Apata Memorial High School. Later she proceeded to American InterContinental University to bag a degree in business administration.

The 29 year old's breakthrough moment came after her singles Askamaya", "Case" and "Uyo Meyo" went viral.

 "Askamaya" was later ranked 15th on MTV Base's year-end list of the Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks of 2018. 

Seyi Shay

6. Seyi Shay

Seyi Shay or Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress who was born and raised in Tottenham, London, England, to Nigerian parents.

A graduate of Music business management from University of East London, Seyi has managed to make a name for herself. The dark skinned singer in 2008, became the lead vocalist for the now defunct pop girl group From Above.

The group signed a recording deal with Sony's Columbia Records and was managed by Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment company.

According to Wikipedia Shay released her debut studio album Seyi or Shay in November 2015. It was supported by the promotional singles: "Irawo", "Ragga Ragga", "Right Now" and "Murda" featuring Patoranking and Shaydee.
