Adedua and Etim Effiong

1. Adesua Etomi Daniel Etim-Effiong will host AMVCA nominations

On Monday, 14 March, the nominations for the eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) were confirmed for Saturday, March 19.

At the unveiling of this year's nominees in 33 categories, actors Daniel Etim-Effiong and Adesua Etomi will host the nominations in a special broadcast on all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv from 9 pm WAT.

MultiChoice Nigeria Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels Busola Tejumola said that quality entries from Africa had been received. She added that only the final shortlisted would be revealed.


2. Davido promises to gift N20M to 20 lucky Nigerians

Famous Nigerian music star David Adeleke aka Davido, is all set to put smiles on the faces of small business owners.

The "Fall" singer promised to give twenty lucky Nigerians the sum of N20M.

The billionaire heir made this known while reacting to the high cost of living trend on social media.

"Country hard right now sha ... let's give 20 m to 20 people on Friday ... send in your business ideas or start-up ideas ... more details shortly #Wrblo," he tweeted.

Davido's planned giveaway follows a charitable donation he made last year to 292 orphanages.

Recall, Davido raised N200M over 72 hours after he shared his account details on social media during his birthday in 2021.

3. Jim Iyke says he was banned in the industry for 2 years

Famous Nigerian actor Jim Iyke, aka Nollywood bad boy, recently revealed a shocking event in his acting career.

According to Jim Iyke, movie producers in the West African country decided to stop casting him for two years after he stood up for his fellow poorly remunerated actors.

At the ongoing International Youth Empowerment Summit in Accra, Jim implied that this transpired after he stood in front of the “elite producers and stars” in the movie industry in Nigeria and demanded better pay for his colleagues.

Since they turned deaf ears to his request, he “called” a group of actors and asked them to ask for “more money.”

Unfortunately, the producers decided to ban him(Jim Iyke) and the other actors in 2004. The actors banned were known as the G8- Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Richard Mofe Damijo, Genevieve Nnaji, Emeka Ike, Ramsey Nouah, Nkem Owoh.

4. Nikki Laoye and Rooftop MC's Soul Snatcha tie the knot in a traditional wedding

Nigerian gospel artists Adekunle Ayoola, also known as SoulSnatcha, and Nikki Laoye are officially married.

The lovely Nikki Laoye took to her Instagram page on Friday, March 18, 2022,  to pen down an emotional caption of their journey from friendship to marriage.

 " Our New Beginning has begun. A Love story orchestrated by God and blessed by our families (The Laoyes & The Adeyoolas)," she wrote.

Soul Snatcha popped the forever question to the singer in December 2021.

The couple has both been married before; Soul Snatcha lost his wife, Adora, in 2019, while Laoye and her ex-husband Alex Oturu got divorced in 2018 over irreconcilable differences.


5. Peruzzi threatens Twitter user who accused him of fathering Davido's son

On Monday, March 14, 2022, Nigerian singer Peruzzi threatened to deal with the Twitter user who accused him of fathering Davido's son, Ifeanyi.

Mdee had made some unfounded comments about Davido not being the biological father of his son, Ifeanyi, with Chioma.

While responding to Mdee's tweet, Peruzzi said he would pay dearly for the remarks he made.

"And When/If I See You, You’ll Show Me The DNA Test Result. This Your Nonsense Will Pay Off Brother, On G," he tweeted.

"David & I Are 2 Different People. So Na 2 Markets You Buy. Except for Na My Child. On G!

Peruzzi's tweets followed hours after Davido had vowed to deal with the Twitter user calling him a " Deadman walking."


6. Netflix may soon be charge subscribers extra for password-sharing

Netflix hints at plans to launch a test to see its subscribers pay an additional fee for users outside their household.

The movie platform's test, which is the streamer's latest attempt to curb illicit password sharing, will first launch in three countries - Chile, Costa Rica and Peru.

 Netflix's Director of Product Innovation Chengyi Long shared: "Netflix will let members who share their accounts with people outside their household do so easily and securely, while also paying a bit more.” It, however, remains unclear if the testis in other countries.

However, users have expressed displeasure at the new move by Netflix.

7. Annie Idibia renews wedding vows with hubby 2Face Idibia

On Friday, March 18, 2022, Nollywood actress Annie Idibia revealed that she has continued her wedding vows with her hubby, 2Face Idibia.

The movie star made this known via her Instagram page.

"Yes, Fam…A Guy And I Re- Newed Our Vows… 10th Anniversary!! Was very intimate. But we also wanted to share it with the whole world. Will post pics n Videos," she wrote.

Annie's announcement comes after her emotional breakdown earlier that day on a reality TV show; Young, Famous, Africans.

8. Instagram suspends Kanye West's account 

Popular American Chicago rapper Kanye West has been suspended from Instagram for 24 hours.

In records from  PageSix, the rapper was suspended for going after Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson and Trevor Noah on social media.

According to Page Six the rapper’s recent posts violated the company’s policies on hate speech and bullying and harassment. Kanye has constantly posted hateful comments about Pete Davidson and Kim.

At some point, Kin pleaded for Kanye to stop spreading hate against her and Pete. Kanye stopped for a while but resumed again, this time he began to spread rumours that Davidson had HIV.


9. Drake buys Robbie Williams’ Posh Beverly Hills Estate for $75 Million

Canadian “Hotline Bling” rapper Drake has officially bought the British “Angels” crooner’s Benedict Canyon property this week.

According to a report listing, the property includes seven bedrooms and 13 baths, plus a separate staff wing with three ensuite staff bedrooms and a staff kitchen. Also, it has a flattering vast formal living and dining rooms, a gourmet kitchen sporting a breakfast nook and library, and a pair of family rooms, one of which does double-duty as a movie theatre; outdoors, the palatial grounds include a guesthouse, mosaic-tiled pool, an indoor-outdoor kitchen and a “hidden” tennis court.


10. Rihanna plans ‘birthing suite’ in Barbados ahead of baby’s arrival

Henry billionaire singer Rihanna will give birth to her first baby with A$AP Rocky in Barbados as the Diamond singer has reportedly planned a ‘full birthing suite’.

According to reports from  OK! Rihanna's plans include “ a full birthing suite, a water tub, installed at her mansion.”

Further details add that all the influential women in her life will be there, and during the labour to deliver the baby, "they’ll all get spa treatments like massages, mani and pedis,” the outlet quoted its source.

The Fenty Beauty mogul intends her birthing experience to be an " all-out celebration,” she added. Other reports say that A$AP Rocky and the singer plan to also tie the nuptial knot after the birth of their baby.
