6-year-old boy gains social media popularity for saving sister from dog attack
A brave 6-year-old boy, Bridger Walker, has gained popularity on social media after being praised by actress, Anna Hathaway for rescuing his little sister from a dog attack.
Bridger on July 9, moved into swift action when a one-year-old German Shepherd breed charged at his 4-year-old sister. According to a statement released by the family to CNN Bridger got brutally attacked by the dog while protecting his sister.
"Tragically, instead of running off, the dog leapt and latched into Bridger's cheek", the statement partly read.
Bridger after the incident went through a two-hour surgery which required more than 90 stitches. When his father asked him why he jumped between his sister and the dog, he said, "If someone had to die, I thought it should be me", the statement said.
His aunt took to her Instagram account to share that Bridger is an Avenger fan and that got the attention of Hathaway.
"I'm not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one", Hathaway wrote on Instagram, posting alongside the writeup, photos of Bridger and his little sister.
"I can only hope I'm half as brave in my life as you are in yours, Bridger. Wishing you as easeful recovery, and many cool looking rocks. Hey @markruffalo, do you need a teammate?" she further wrote.
Cast members from the popular franchise haven't made a public comment yet. However, Hathaway's post has gotten as much as 1 million likes as well as thousands of comments from users who praised the boy.
The family also noted that famous figures like Tom Holland, Ruffalo, Zachary Levi, Hugh Jackman and the Russo brothers had reached out to them.
The family concluded their statement by saying, "May we follow Bridger's example, approach the world as a child and bring greater peace to our own homes, communities, states and countries".
