Two entertainers have been arrested for a suspected case of robbery in Lagos. They cited hunger during the lockdown as the reason for their criminal act.

Two of the entertainers- a musician and a pianist, were both recently arrested by the Rapid Response Squad unit of the Lagos Police Command on suspected robbery.

Chinonso Micheal (25) and Chimelu Victory (22) confessed to the robbery acting, stating that it was hunger caused by the lockdown that pushed them into such crime. The duo reportedly ordered pay on delivery, an iPhone 11 Pro Max which is valued at N450,000 from their service charge apartment in Ajah.

After receiving the phone, Chimelu generated a fake alert to the rider and connived with Chinonso to escape the apartment after tying down the dispatcher with a bottle of alcohol. The iPhone was later sold for a sum of N350,000 which was transferred into Chinonso's bank account.

They were arrested in the company of 5 other suspects at their residence in 4 Modupe Young Thomas Estate, Ajah, Lagos.

The suspects were reported to have jumped off the first floor to the ground naked just on sighting the police. Chinonso fractured his arm and got bruises too but still was on the run before he got arrested and was taken to the hospital.

The duo confessed that this was the third time they were committing the crime and selling off iPhone 11 phones during the lockdown. They two who usually perform at different nightclubs in Lagos have attributed their actions to the COVID-19 lockdown emphasising that since nothing was going on, they had no source of food.

They also confessed that asides their career as musicians, they have also been involved in internet fraud.
