Nigerian Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has lauded the Federal Government for its efforts in carrying the youths of the nation along by creating different platforms to help them achieve self-development.

Dikeh gave the commendation when she featured on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum to educate Nigerian youths on the need to stand by their leaders in order to build the country.

Dikeh, who is also Director of Socials and Empowerment, Committee of Youths on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) condemned the news which circulates on social media intending to criticise the government's efforts on youths' developmental projects.

"I actually think that the government is doing a lot. Prior to being a member of the CYMS, I didn't have the knowledge of the fact that the government has so many platforms assigned to youths to be able to get them to the next level.

"I didn't know that because something that is actually worse than the pandemic which is actually eating into our society and that is fake news, which is wrong news, which is bad news.

"Which is what we have, and always have been getting, the news that the government is trying to help the youths or the platform in which way they help the youth are not found,

"The information just stops half-way, and that is not getting to the people who actually need it", she said.

The actress, however, explained that the CYMS as a sensitisation and mobilisation organisation was working to see to it that youths are enlightened by the organisation so that they won't give up on the government's programmes.

According to her, CYMS has many empowerment programs and various initiatives for the youths. She said her foundation employs as much as 50,000 youths every year.

She went further to urge the government to strategise means of including a good number of youths in governance. She also used that avenue to condemn the abuse of women in society.

"If we do not recognise the fact and the problems of the youths, we will only see prosperity; we will only see the country that we deserve is a mirage", she said.

Dikeh assured Nigerian youths that CYMS would continue making efforts to ensure that it worked hand in hand with the government for the development of youths.

The organisation was still working towards executing its schemes planned for the youths before the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, she said.

The scheme, according to her, would give youths, especially women and the opportunity to key into government platforms that would empower them and mould them into the women they are supposed to be in the society.
