Depression is a terrible health condition, no doubt. It affects your psych drastically that you feel you will lose it. There is a lot you can do on your own to fight back ranging from changing your behaviour, your physical activities, lifestyle, and even your way of thinking.

It can make you feel helpless. Sometimes the medications seem not to be working, and even the therapist appears to be defeated.
There is a lot you can do on your own to fight back ranging from changing your behaviour your physical activities, lifestyle, and even your way of thinking.
Get in a routine:
Do not sit all day thinking about your life, challenges and problems. Set a daily schedule and keep yourself busy. Engage your mind and give it no space of negative thought.
I know how weak Depression can make one feel. It will make you believe you cannot accomplish the smallest task on earth. You will think you are useless and can't be of any value. However, set daily goals for yourself. Set goals you can quickly achieve, such as cooking, washing of dishes, going to see a friend and others. Start small and keep it consistent.
Research has it that exercise temporarily boosts feel-good chemicals called endorphins. After exercise, you would definitely feel good about yourself. Depression puts one in a position of rejecting self. You need excise to fight depression.
A psychiatrist and director of Depression Research and Clinic Program at UCLA, Dr Cook says there's evidence that foods with omega-3 fatty acids (such as salmon and tuna) and folic acid(such as spinach and avocado) could help ease depression. Although it is not definite, it will go a long way.
Get enough sleep:
Depression can make it hard for one to even shut-eye. It makes it worse that not getting enough sleep can make depression worse.
What can you do? Start by making some changes to your lifestyle. Go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Try not to nap.
Take all the distractions out of your bedroom, no computer and no TV. In time, you may find your sleep improve.
