Wearing of nose mask has become a necessity due to the pandemic ravaging the world.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has made it clear that one can't step out without wearing a nose mask. It has become a permit to enter some organisations like banks and other parastatals.

The beneficial impact of nose mask cannot be undermined. It is part of the ways of staying safe from the deadly novel virus.

However, the effects of prolonged wearing of nose masks are grave that one can't afford to overlook it. Even though some ignorant Nigerians have turned it to become a fashion, it can be hazardous to human health when worn for a prolonged time.

Dr Dennis A Castro B talked on the effects of prolonged wearing of nose marks.

According to him, prolonged use of the mask produces hypoxia. Breathing over and over exhaled air turns into carbon dioxide, which explains why one feels dizzy if wear for a long time.

It causes discomfort, loss of reflexes and conscious thought. It also generates excess fatigue.

Also, oxygen deficiency causes glucose breakdown and endangered lactic acid rise. Remember that when you wear it for a prolonged time, you may end up breathing carbon dioxide and not oxygen as we earlier stated.

Some people drive their car with the mask on, that is very dangerous because the stale air can make the driver lose consciousness.

It is recommended to use it only if you have someone in front or very close, and it is essential to remember to lift it every 10 minutes to continue feeling healthy.

It is counterproductive for people who serve the public for 8 hours, as they are intoxicating themselves without knowing. Make sure that prevention does not lead you to another problem.

Use nose masks but use it wisely.
