COVID-19: NCDC announces 300 new cases in Nigeria
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has announced 300 new cases of people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus.
NCDC revealed this via its official website on Sunday. It said after some weeks of recording low number of infections in Nigeria, the 300 new cases bring the total number of infections in Nigeria to 64,090.
The health agency further announced the discharge of 26 patients from different isolation centres across the country.
It also added that the country's epicentre, Lagos State, had reported 255 new cases of COVID-19. This is the highest number of single-day infections since August 22.
NCDC said 26 COVID-19 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours with 59,910 as the total number of cases that have been treated successfully in the country.
The health agency also said that no new COVID-19 deaths were recorded during the period as the national death toll remains 1,154 for the fourth consecutive day.
NCDC said it had activated a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), at level III, to coordinate the national response activities in the country.
