Mrs Regina Fani-Kayode, the legal wife of the former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has disclosed that the former minister never abused her in their 23 years of marriage and that they are still legally married.

She revealed this during a telephone conversation with the PUNCH in reaction to the allegations labelled on Fani-Kayode that he abused his estranged wife, Precious Chikwendu.

Regina is a Ghanaian lady and Fani-Kayode's legal wife. They got married in 1997 based on Ghanaian customs and followed that up with a court wedding at the Apapa Registry in Lagos in 2002.

"We have a beautiful daughter called Oluwaremilekun, and both she and I are very proud of him. He has been a wonderful father and a caring husband, and he has never subjected me to any form of domestic abuse or treated me badly.

"Reports in the media that we are divorced are fake and suggestions that I was treated in a bad way by him or subjected to any form of abuse at any time in the 23 years that we have been married are malicious and false", she said.

When asked if she was aware that Fani-Kayode was in a relationship which produced four sons, she responded affirmatively, adding that she approved of that.

Regina further explained that she had relocated to Ghana and that she knew a monogamous relationship would be difficult for her husband so, she gave him her blessing to take another wife.

However, she pointed out that her husband did not commit bigamy as he did not marry Precious legally but traditionally.

Clacified had reported earlier that Precious who is a former beauty queen, recently separated from her husband Fani-Kayode amid rumours of domestic violence.

The report also said that Fani-Kayode had written a pre-litigation letter to a popular blogger, Stella Dimokorkus demanding the sum of N2bn for making reports about him, which he termed are 'libellous.'
