At least fifteen persons were wounded on Wednesday as Boko Haram terrorists attacked convoy of the Borno State governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum along Baga highway, in the northern part of the troubled state.

Baga, Borno - A deadly Area

It was said that the area is dangerous and has recorded many abductions by the terrorist group in recent times. It was on the same axis that five aid workers, who were killed about a week ago, were abducted in June this year.

The governor has been touring on some local government in northern Borno to ensure the safety of local returnees as well as make provision for the victims of the insurgency.

The governor and his entourage were at Baga town, one of the areas difficult for humanitarian activities, when the terrorist group ambushed his convoy.

Reports have it that the governor was on his way to distribute relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Monguno Local Government after leaving Baga town when the incident happened.

Eye Witness Report

According to a source who spoke to journalists, the governor's convoy ran into an ambush on Baga road on Wednesday evening.

"He was very fortunate to have escaped the attack unhurt and continued his journey to distribute the relief materials.

This is about the third time insurgents are ambushing the governor's convoy."

Attempts to reach the spokesman for the governor, Isa Gusau, and the Borno State Commissioner for Information, Babakura Abba-Jatto were futile.
