Obadiah Mailafia resigns from NIPSS, states reasons
Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Obadiah Mailafia, announced that he has resigned from the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS.
Stating reasons for his resignation, Mailafia said he had to resign because of how his people are being wasted daily in the Southern part of Kaduna.
Speaking to Daily Trust, he said “I have resigned from NIPPS. Nobody asked me or pressurised me to resign. I did it on my own.
"I decided that I cannot continue working, with all my good conscience, when my people are continually being killed, and genocide is being committed against my people.''
He further added that he gave NIPPS one month’s notice from 18th August to 18th September when his resignation will take effect.
Mailafia maintained that his resignation is for the best interest of everybody.
Mailafia was invited twice for questioning by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Jos Office over his recent comments on the killings in the Southern part of Kaduna and his revelation about Boko Haram terrorists.
Mailafia had among other things, alleged that a repentant bandit told him that a serving northern governor was a commander of the terrorist group.
Even after his detention at the DSS office in the capital city of Jos, Mailafia still stood his ground saying he won't retract his statement that one of the northern governors is the sponsor of Boko Haram.
