The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state has issued out new conditions to the deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi ahead of the gubernatorial election if he is to contest under the party's umbrella.

It is reported that the party has welcomed the state deputy governor to contest on its platform; however, it gave him a list of conditions even as the Ondo gubernatorial election is drawing closer.

According to reports, amongst the conditions listed for Ajayi include that he has to agree to only one term in office. It is expected of him that after the one tenure, he would hand over to another loyal member of the party.

The deputy governor had earlier parted political ways with Governor Akeredolu over his ambition to contest in the governorship election.

A PDP chieftain, speaking on the grounds of anonymity said the deputy governor is not making plans to resign his position and is also expected to announce his defection formally this week.

However, the southwest national chairman of the party, Eddy Olafeso in reaction to Ajayi's defection to the party said no party aspirant was ready to step down for him. He also added that the deputy governor was not yet a member of the DP party as he was yet to pick neither the nomination nor expression of interest forms.

This development followed just after some of the party aspirants made it known that they were not stepping don for the state deputy governor.

The aspirants who had already picked the party's nomination forms include Elder Eddy Olafeso, Banji Okunomo and Eyitayo Jegede.

Ajayi is reportedly expected to resign to enable him to throw the hat into the ring against his boss Governor Akeredolu. An inside source said he has already obtained the nomination form of the opposition party, PDP but is yet to declare his interest to contest under the party publicly.
