A pastor identified as Joseph Anthony of Living Faith Church, a.k.a Winners Chapel, at Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old.

The victim happens to be the daughter of a fellow pastor, Chukwuma Okoronkwo who accommodated the suspect in their house.

The Imo state police command paraded the pastor together with other suspects such as the traditional ruler of Obor Awara Autonomous community in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Andrew Okuegbunuwa. He was accused of providing his kidnap gang with an operational vehicle.

The state Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, in a press briefing on Monday, said the pastor and other suspects were involved in various crimes ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, incest among others.

The Commissioner said the command has embarked on a full-scale investigation to fish out other criminals in the state, adding that the suspects would soon be charged to court.

According to him, he had just been transferred to the Njaba chapter of Winners Chapel. He was waiting to be assigned his residential apartment before another Pastor offered to harbour him until he secured his accommodation.

A similar incident equally occurred in Benin as Pastor Otobong Emerson of the Believers’ Ministry church was paraded for defiling siblings of ages 6, 7, 9 and another child of 11 years.

Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Chidi Nwabazor, while parading the suspect, said he had confessed to the offence.

Emerson, aged 48, while confessing to the crime said, after having carnal knowledge of the minors multiple times, he had to admit to his General Overseer for his deeds, adding that a spirit influenced him to do so.
