Fikayo Tomori set to leave Chelsea on January transfer
Chelsea's defender Fikayo Tomori might leave the club on loan in the current January transfer window says the club's manager Frank Lampard.
Tomori has been one of the best developing academy graduates in Chelsea. He is currently down Frank Lampard's pecking order with Thiago Silva, Curt Zouma, Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen all playing ahead of him.
Frank Lampard confirmed after the club's 4-0 win against Morecambe in the FA Cup on Sunday that talks are going for FikayoTomori to go on loan in January transfer to continue his development.
Fikayo Tomori is a strong defender, and a move to Newcastle will help him develop more to be able to compete in Lampard's squad
"Situation with Fikayo is open at the moment. There is a possibility he could be going on loan to get games somewhere else, " Lampard said in a post-match conference.
"So that would have to be the solution for him and the club. That was part of my thinking of not starting him today.
"I gave him some minutes in the end, but while we are looking at that, I wanted to make sure it was the right thing for the club and him and individually.
"So that’s why he didn’t start. But his attitude, even though he hasn’t played much recently, has been fantastic in training and in how he is.
Newcastle United are said to be interested in Fikayo Tomori, and a move to St. James' Park in the current January transfer window will be a good step forward for the 23-year-old defender Tomori,
