Contrary to reports linking Umar Sadiq to Newcastle, Clacified can exclusively report that these claims are untrue. .

Following viral reports making the rounds from both British media and local tabloids that Newcastle are gearing up a bid for former Nigerian wonderkid, Sadiq Umar, Clacified can exclusively report that these claims are false.

Sadiq Umar, scorer of 20 league goals last season has been on sizzling hot form since permanently leaving Roma in 2019/20.

The 24-year-old netted 17 goals and provided 17 assists for Serbian side, FK Partizan, before securing a late move to La Liga 2's Almeria in 2020.

Last season, he scored 28 goals and assisted 9 others in all competitions as he certified himself as one of the hottest properties in lower league football.

This season, he has started in the same vein, scoring 7 and assisting 6 in 15 appearances for Almeria, which has left them atop La Liga 2 and firmly poised for promotion.

On the back of getting acknowledged by pundits as La Liga 2's best striker, reports have been generating steam that Newcastle and their newly found riches are readying a January bid to scoop the former Olympic star to the Premier League.

This story, first reported by Fichajes, has been recounted by MSN, theHardTackle, TheSun UK, SportWitness and several other Nigerian media outlets.

But internal sources and thorough investigation from Clacified have unveiled the report to be just another transfer speculation, at least for now.

However, Sevilla, Getafe and Krasnodar are clubs confirmed to have expressed concrete interest in Liga's 2 top scorer, all of which have failed to meet Almeria's valuation.

Almeria are also not interested in selling the player this season, as it would scupper their already rolling plan to return to top-flight football. The Rojiblancos currently sit six points clear of nearest contenders, Eibar, in 2nd place with 26 regular season games left to play.
