Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard named Norway's national team captain
Currently, on loan at Arsenal, Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard has been named new Noway national team captain by newly appointed head coach Ståle Solbakken.
Odegaard, who is just 22 years of age, has been chosen by the Norwegian football Federation to lead the national team following Ståle Solbakken appointment as the nation's new head coach.
The Norwegian Football Federation announced Ståle Solbakken as the successor of Lars Lagerback on Thursday, 11th March 2021.
Martin Odegaard, who joined Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid during the January transfer season, will possibly captain Erling Haaland, the most sought after striker in the world, in the upcoming FIFA 2022 world cup to be held in Qatar.
This week must be one to be remembered for Martin Odegaard. Yesterday, he netted his first goal for Arsenal in the Europa League quarter-final first leg match against Olympiakos with a stunning shot from outside the 18-yard box.
Arsenal will be hoping to retain Martin Odegaard's services beyond the end of this season, but current indications are that Real Madrid is not ready to part with the 22-year-old.
