Former Barcelona's prolific midfielder Xavier Hernández is poised to become the club new manager following Ronald Koeman's departure. What will he bring to the team?

Barcelona has reached an agreement with Xavi Hernández to become their new manager

Xavi has been offered the role to become Barcelona's manager after the sacking of the club's manager Ronald Koeman on Wednesday following their horrible 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.

The defeat against Vallecano made it Barcelona's third defeat of their season in ten La Liga matches, winning only four, and that has left both the fans and board with much frustration.

Barcelona has been in a poor run of form this season under Ronald Koeman. They have only won one match out of their last three Champions League games this season, sitting at the third position of Group E table.

Due to their poor form, Koeman was rumoured to be leaving Barcelona earlier this month before he was given another chance to prove himself. Barcelona's president openly said they would continue with the Netherlands Boss.

"Ronald Koeman continues, and we are proud of that. He is our coach. Now it is necessary to give him a margin of confidence. Xavi? We often talk because we are friends, just like I talk with Guardiola now and then, " Barça president Laporta said at the beginning of October.

After winning only one out of four La Liga matches in October, the club has finally decided to relieve Koeman of his managerial duty.

They are now considering appointing Barcelona's legend and Al Sadd SC head coach Xavier Hernández as the club's new manager with a rumour that he has accepted the club's offer.

This is the second time Barcelona is approaching their former midfielder after a rumour years ago that he was accosted for the managerial role before appointing Quique Setien in 2020.

Barcelona has already appointed Sergi Barjuan as the club's interim coach while waiting to finalise a deal with Xavi and Al Sadd.

How has Xavi developed as a manager?

After Xavi's retirement in Al Sadd SC in 2019, he took over as the club's manager, intending to develop his managerial career in Qatar. In his first season in 2019, his team finished third in the league's table.

In Xavi's second season, he reshaped his Al Sadd to become the best club in Qatar. He led them to a treble-winning, lifting the Qatar Stars League, Emir of Qatar Cup and Qatar Cup in 2020.

Xavi created history in Qatar Stars League with Al Sadd winning the 2020 Qatar Stars League tournament with an unbeaten record. He won 19 and drew three out of 22 matches.

In the 2021 season, Xavi has continued to lead his team strongly with his Tiki-taka style of play, just like his playing style during his career as a footballer.

In the 2021 season, Al Sadd has won seven of their opening matches in the Qatar Stars League.

With Barcelona pushing to appoint Xavi, the Spanish manager might be leaving Al Sadd if he terminates his contract with the club.

What will Xavi bring to Barcelona?

Barcelona appointing Xavi might be a step forward for the club as he grew at Nou Camp and knows the club's culture very well. He spent many years playing for Barcelona, and it would be easier for the 41-year-old manager as he does not need any adaption leading the club.

Xavi spent his entire career playing for Barcelona; during his career as a footballer, he was regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world. With his great experience, he will bring much knowledge into the team as he is familiar with Barcelona's tiki-taka style.

Barcelona currently has many academic graduates in the senior team familiar with Xavi, which would help him develop them to become exceptional players.

Gavi, Pedri, Ansu Fati, and Riqui Puig will benefit from his experience and help them with their development.

Barcelona is currently at the 10th position of the La Liga table, and they hope that Xavi will help them climb up to the top of the league table.
