Chelsea in last minute talks with Bayer Leverkusen over Havertz transfer
The Premier League transfer window opened yesterday, and it is understood that Chelsea is in talks with Bayer 04 Leverkusen over the transfer of Kai Havertz and the deal is getting closer.
Havertz has been linked with a move to Chelsea for over two months with personal terms reportedly agreed with the London club.
The 21-year-old Germany international has been in a fine form for Leverkusen scoring 17 goals and recording nine assists in the just concluded 2019/2020 Bundesliga season.
The attacking midfielder is ranked as one of the most talented rising stars in Europe, and he is known for his flexibility with the ball and his eye for goals.
Havertz form has attracted many elite Europian clubs including Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

Leverkusen was not ready to sell their star player who is valued at £80 million after the club's sporting director insisted that they are not giving up hope in keeping Havertz this summer.
“We haven’t given up hope that he’ll stay with us,” Voller told ARD (via Daily Star).
“We try to give him every possibility that he can call up his qualities. He did an outstanding job in the second half of the season.”
Now it looks like the deal is something that might go through as report claims they have entered official talks with Chelsea over Havertz transfer.
Chelsea has qualified for the next season's Champions League competition following their 2-0 win against Wolves at the Stamford Bridge.
They will be looking to boost their defence even further having secured the signing of Havertz's teammate Timo Werner and Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech.
Adding Havertz to the squad will be a big boost and will help Chelsea compete in the Premier League next season and also in the Champions League.
