Bayer 04 Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz is close to joining London club Chelsea in a big-money transfer on a five-year contract.

The 21-year old Germany international has been linked to Chelsea before the end of 2019/2020 season with several reports that he has agreed on personal terms with the club.

Chelsea is now close to completing his signing on a fee worth around €80M plus €20M on add-ons. It is still unknown when he will be undergoing his medical at the London club.

Chelsea has been in negotiations with the German club for Kai Havertz for over 2 months now, having seen several offers rejected by Bayer Leverkusen for their star midfielder.

Chelsea had wanted to pay €70m signing fee plus other add-ons but Leverkusen insisted on receiving €90M upfront fee for their talented midfielder.

Kai Havertz made his desire to join Frank Lampard's Chelsea team known to Leverkusen and pushed for the deal.

It looks like the deal will be over soon as Chelsea is now negotiating on the final touches of the move with medicals and paper works to follow.

Kai Havertz was an integral member of the Leverkusen squad in the just concluded 2019/2020 Bundesliga season. His skills and talents have made him earn a spot as one of the most talented teenagers in Europe.

He eyes for goals helped Leverkusen on many occasions and also in sealing a spot in the top four of the Bundesliga table. Kai Havertz scored 18 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Leverkusen in the 2019/2020 season.

Havertz was a transfer target for many top clubs in Europe including Manchester United, and Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich before Chelsea stepped up their interest in him.

Bayer Leverkusen is believed to be pushing to sign Patrik Schick from AS Roma. Patrik Schick was on loan at RB Leipzig and talks are ongoing between the two clubs. Also, Fulham inquired about Schick.

Chelsea's attacking threat

A lot has to be said about the squad that Frank Lampard is assembling at Chelsea. In this summer's transfer window, Chelsea has gone all out for attacking players, bringing Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

There are lots of attacking players in the Chelsea team, with Pulisic, Kovacic, Mason Mount, Barkley all going to be fighting for their place in the starting line up come next.

Time will tell how Frank Lampard will manage and balance his team. Chelsea is also lacking defensively and will be looking at the market for center backs to help strengthen the backline.

Chelsea's Interest in Thiago Silva

Chelsea is rumoured to be discussing a deal for Brazilian defender Thiago Sliva. Thiago Silva and his PSG team lost in the UEFA Champions League final to Bayern Munich yesterday night.

Thiago Silva after the game at Lisbon revealed that his future is not decided yet and will think about his next move in the weeks.

"This was my last match at PSG. I am sad," Silva told RMC Sport after the final whistle in Lisbon. ‘I apologise to the supporters. I want to thank all the fans for their love.

"I will come back to PSG… I want to play for three or four more years and be at the World Cup in Qatar."

In a further interview with Sky Sport Italia, when asked about links with Fiorentina, Silva replied: ‘Now I have to look for a new team. Fiorentina? Reports of an agreement are not true.

"My agent is talking to them and other clubs, but nothing is signed yet. ‘Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, I will have to look at the offers and make the best decision for my family and me."
