Lazio is very furious at former Manchester City's midfielder, David Sliva for not honouring his Bosman agreement of a 3-year transfer deal with the club, instead, he joined Real Sociedad at the last minute.

The Spanish international was linked with a move to the Italian side Lazio after his contract expired at Etihad at the end of July 2020. According to reports, Silva agreed on a three-year contract with Lazio.

The deal, suddenly collapsed in the last minutes when Spanish club Real Sociedad hijacked the midfielder from Lazio. That has not gone down well with the club, and Lazio's sporting director, Igli Tare has come out to speak about their sadness.

He said furiously after David Silva deal got hijacked by Real Sociedad: "I respect David Silva as a player, but NOT as a man."

Real Sociedad confirmed the signing of David Silva today, on a 2-year deal. Silva returns to Spain once again after spending 10 years at Manchester City.

Silva had a three-year deal agreed with Lazio, and medicals were already scheduled to take place in Rome. But Real Sociedad swooped in secretly and hijacked the deal.

Such can happen in football, but it does not speak good of the player. It shows an inability to honour an agreement and this is why Lazio is not happy with Silva.

Why did silva choose Real Sociedad?

It is believed that Silva opted for Real Sociedad as that will allow him to stay in Spain with his family rather than travel all the way to Rome, somewhere he considers far from home.

David Silva's return to Spain

Silva will be heading back to his country Spain to continue his career after a ten year-spell at Manchester City. He was a crucial part of the squad that build Manchester City's team to the level they are today.

The club has praised his impact at the club and has confirmed that Silva's statue will be erected in front of Etihad Stadium in 2021 alongside former captain Vincent Company who retired this season.
