Lazio in talks with Manchester United over the signing of Andreas Pereira
Italian giant Lazio is in talks with Manchester United over the signing of their midfielder Andreas Pereira in a season-long loan with an option to buy.
Manchester United has brought in another midfielder Donny Van de Beek from Ajax increasing the competition in the club's midfield with the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandez, Fred, Scot McTominay and Nemanja Matic and Jese Lingard all fighting for the position.
Pereira is regarded as one of the lowest in the pecking order in the midfield by Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solsjkaer, and it will be a good step for the midfielder to move to Italy.
Manchester United will be willing to accept a loan offer for Pereira to ease the selection pressure in that position and Pereira will also be willing to move to Italy to gain more playing time than staying on the bench.
Pereira will be a good signing for Lazio to bolster their midfield options in 2020 season
Pereira was signed as a youth player by former Manchester United's manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011. After spending three seasons as a youth player Pereira made his senior debut for the club in 2014.
He was promoted to the first team after his debut but never earned a spot in the starting eleven. Pereira rarely made an appearance for the club after his promotion making only eleven appearances in a competition for Manchester United.
He was later loaned to Spanish club Granada where he impressed for the club making 37 appearances with five goals in all competitions.
Following his good performance at Granada Pereira signed a loan deal with Valencia where he made 29 appearances for the Spanish club in all competition.
After his loan, Pereira became a substitute in Manchester United's first-team and made his most appearances in the 2019 season with 40 appearances in all competition and scored two goals.
Lazio will be happy to sign Pereira to bolster their squad and bring in his experience into the squad as has already represented one of the top-flight clubs in Europe.
