Manchester United close to signing Donny van de Beek
Manchester United is close to signing Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek just two days after he was dropped from the team's squad in a pre-season match.
According to reports the 23-year-old midfielder has agreed on personal terms with United and will sign a five-year contract that will see him stay at the club till 2025.
Manchester United has already made an official bid worth £40m for the Netherlands international which has been accepted by Ajax.
His paperwork is already completed and he is already undergoing his medicals in Netherlands where he will be joining with his national teammate for the Euro competition.
Van de Beek is a utility player who can play as a defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder and offensive midfield role. Thus, signing for Manchester United will give Ole Gunner Solsjkaer's squad a different dimension in the midfield.
The young midfielder also is known for his good tackling which will bring more aggressiveness to Manchester United's team. He also has an eye for goals having scored 8 goals in 23 appearances for Ajax in the 2019/2020 Eredivisie competition.
Van de Beek will create a whole lot of dimensions in Manchester United's midfield when the club completes his deal
In the 2018/2019 season, van de Beek scored 17 goals in 57 appearances in all competition for Ajax. United signing the young midfielder will help them in getting a high number of goals in a single season.
Van de Beek is one of the best rising young midfielders in Europe for over the last two seasons, and his quality made him linked with top European club with Real Madrid and Barcelona all linked with the midfielder.
In the last season's summer transfer, there were reports that Real Madrid was in pole position to sign van de Beek, but it looks like Manchester United has snatched one of their top targets after agreeing to sign the midfielder.
Manchester United is also linked with Borussia Dortmund's winger Jadon Sancho since the transfer window opened, but they are yet to agree on terms with the club insisting that they cannot pay the asking price for the young talented midfielder.
