Nelson Semedo joins Wolves from Barcelona
Barcelona's right-back Nelson Semedo has signed for Wolves on a three-year contract in an initial fee of €30m plus add-ons after three years at the club.
The deal will see Semedo stay at Wolves until 2023 with an option to extend it to another two years.
Semedo is the fifth player Wolves has signed this season after the signing of Fabio Silva, Fernando Marcal, Vitor Ferreira and Ki-Jana Hoever.
Speaking about the signing, Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi said:"'Progressive at heart' is one of our core values at Wolves. For a member of staff, for a player, for the whole club, we are all making great efforts to progress continuously.
"It's isn't often that we have the opportunity to sign a world-class player from a world-class club. Nelson's signing shows we will never stop progressing, and we are still hungry and humble in our heart."
Wolves were negotiating with Arsenal for Maitland-niles until Arsenal changed positions making Wolves to switch interest to Barcalena's Semedo
Semedo is now the nineth Portuguese player in the Wolves team with the likes of Rui Patrício, Rúben Vinagre, Rúben Neves, Daniel Podence, João Moutinho, Vitinha, Pedro Neto and new signing Fábio Silva all in the team.
Semedo will be a fine replacement for Wolves former right-back and Republic of Ireland international Matt Doherty who joined Tottenham on a four-year-deal.
During the three years at Barcelona Semedo made 124 appearances for the club in all competition and scored two goals. He also won two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and one Supercopa de España title.
