Ronald Koeman set to become Barcelona's new manager
Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman is set to become the Barcelona's new manager after he was named a top target by the Catalan Giants.
Following Barcelona's humiliating 8-2 lost in the champions league quarter-final against Germany champions Bayern Munich, the club is about to sack its manager Quique Setien.
Barcelona did not win any trophy in the 2019/2020 season, and their last hope of touching a medal was terminated following their terrible performance against Bayern Munich in the champions league quarter-final.
The Spanish giant has been linked with several managers with Holland Manager Koeman, former Barcelona player Thierry Henry and former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino all in the list.
It looks like Koeman will be managing Barcelona in the 2020/2021 season with reports that the manager will quit his Netherlands' job next week to join the Blaugrana.
Koeman during his playing career played for Barcelona from 1989 to 1994 under former Ajax coach Johan Cruyff. He made 264 appearances for the club and scored 88 goals.

The 57-year-old manager was once an assistant manager in Barcelona under Louis van Gaal from the year 1998 to 2000 and he has always been in touch with the club's board.

Koeman always made his hopes of managing Barcelona a no secret confirming that he has a clause with the Netherland FA which will allow him move to Spain after the Euro 2020.
"The clause in my contract to go to Barcelona is for, after the European Championship, Koeman told Marca.
"No date has been mentioned, so now it's after the European Championship in 2021. But I haven't thought about it for a second anyway.'
The 2020 Europian tournament has already been shifted to 2021 and Koeman might consider leaving his Holland job to join his former club.
Barcelona's team has been in a poor form since the return football from coronavirus suspension losing series of matches.
The worst performance of their season was in the Bayern defeat where most of the players in an interview admitted to their bad form insisting they need rearrangement in the club.
"We feel devastated, although shame is the real word I'm looking for,” Gerard Pique said after the game. We cannot afford to compete like this because it's not the first, the second or the third time that something like this has happened.
"This is very painful, but I hope it serves some purpose. We all need to reflect deeply; the club needs lots of changes. I’m not talking about the coach, players - I don't want to point the finger at anyone, but the club needs changes on a structural level.
"If new blood needs to come for the club to change course, then I'm not untouchable, and I'll be the first to leave if needs be because it seems as if we've hit rock bottom.
"We all have to reflect on what is the best thing for the club and for Barca."

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi is not also happy with the club after some failed transfer windows and the club's performance over the last few seasons. He has been linked with a move away from Spanish league next season.
The recent champions league defeat against Bayern has increased the frustration at the club after the players were booed by the home fans on their return to Spain.

Barcelona were beaten 4-0 in 2018/2019 Champions League semi-final by Liverpool after winning 3-0 in the first leg of the tournament.
"The game was a tough blow that we received; for the rest of the players and me," Messi told Marca after Liverpool defeat. It was hard to get back up. It was a really hard blow - We played a terrible game.
"It can happen one year but to happen two years in a row.... to have the chance to be in a Champions League final - that cannot be allowed."
Koeman will be looking to reshape the club when he takes up the job in the 2020/2021 season starting with Messi's anger with the club. He will likely have to buy young players to fill the space that is occupied by old players.
