Former super eagles' player Christian Obodo has narrated his ordeal in the hands of kidnappers when he was abducted on Sunday last week in Delta State.

According to the midfielder, the kidnappers did not harm him but put him in the trunk of a car. He added that the kidnappers were telling him about the bet they placed in Nigeria match against Sierra Leone on Friday which ended in 4-4 draw.

According to Obodo the kidnappers said they played Nigeria to score in the second half, but they failed to score and win the match.

“It was really uncomfortable being locked up in a hot car trunk for hours,” Obodo was quoted as saying on Brila FM.

Obodo was one of the best players in Super Eagles during his time

“The kidnappers were even telling me about how they lost money for placing bets on Nigeria to score in the second half.

“They didn’t hurt me or intimidate me, but I can’t understand the reason for anyone to want to put me through this sort of thing over again.”

The kidnapping of the former 36-year-old player makes it the second time he has been abducted in Delta State, after he was earlier kidnapped in June 2012.

The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the AFCON on Friday against Sierra Leone after seeing their 4-0 lead equalised by the visitor at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Today Tuesday, November 17 the Super Eagles will be replaying against Sierra Leone in Freetown to know if they will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.
