Nigerian Grammy Award winner, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has just made history on YouTube.
The Made in Lagos crooner hit the landmark of 1.06 billion live streams on YouTube, making him the most-streamed Afrobeat artist of all time.
With 2.13million subscribers on YouTube and the 1.06billion livestreams, Wizkid surpasses Burna and Davido. The Afrobeat artist's channel "Star Boy Tv" has not posted any new video since April.
News about his winning streak created a buzz on Twitter as star boy Wizkid trended at 35.5k tweets on the birdie app at 8:00 am today.
Wizkid's "Made in Lagos" album has continued to receive accolades since its release last year.
When Wizkid first put out the "Made In Lagos" album last October, it made massive airwaves. The "Made In Lagos" album is the longest-charting album on the world billboard in history.
The album, which sits at no. 1, is the only Nigerian album to have maintained the top spot for 4 consecutive weeks. You can call it a smashing hit or anything but Wizkid received lots of accolades for his song with Tems" Essence."
The single Essence also received international accreditations as Justine Bieber requested to add a verse to the original song.
Later in the year, WizKid performed "Essence" at the 02 Arena with American singer Justin Bieber in Los Angeles.
