The KPK song earned three nominations for the 2022 The Headies Awards.

In 2023 Mohbad earned a nomination at The Headies Awards for Best Street-Hop Artist. Mohbad's growing popularity in the Nigerian music industry became evident through both his accumulating awards and continuous chart performance as well as his expanding fanbase.

Mohbad’s Personal Life and Death

The public paid active attention to Mohbad's life outside music as well. The musician Mohbad was married to his wife named Omawunmi. In April 2023, they gave birth to a son whom they named Liam.

Mohbad made public accusations against Naira Marley for assault when he declared his choice to find a new management team in October 2022. According to Mohbad, Naira Marley asked Sam Larry and his boys to physically attack him.

Mohbad and Naira Marley

After breaking his contract with Marlian Music, Mohbad explained that he left because the label failed to meet his royalty requirements while he faced continuous physical abuse and life-threatening actions from his managers.

In June 2023, Mohbad filed a police complaint explaining that the music promoter, Sam Larry (known to be associated with Naira Marley), was attacking him and destroying his property. The professional disputes created a chaotic image of his professional existence, which suggested the artist faced serious issues during his career.

The public mourned as Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at 27 years old. His death triggered national outrage and intense calls for justice under the hashtag #Justice4MohBad. Some reports indicated that he died shortly after he was treated for an infection by an unlicensed nurse.

The nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, admitted to giving tetanus toxoid and paracetamol along with ceftriaxone injections, which, according to police report caused his fatal reactions.

Hospital staff sent Mohbad to Perez Medcare Hospital, but medical personnel declared him dead on arrival. His rapid burial at Ikorodu the next day after his death ignited doubts among his public supporters and the general population.

The Lagos State Police Command initiated an official investigation into the death of Mohbad while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu requested Department of State Services (DSS) involvement in the inquiry.

The authorities conducted an exhumation of Mohbad's body for autopsy examination on September 21st, 2023. The police examined 26 people during their investigation, starting with family members and ending with the 19 named suspects.

When Mohbad died, Naira Marley, along with Sam Larry, were abroad but they came back to Nigeria to help with the investigation while maintaining their innocence regarding the case. PrimeBoy received identification as a suspect because of his past fight with Mohbad.

The investigators failed to determine the cause of death during the September 2023 autopsy examination because the body had decomposed too much. A coroner's court started its investigation, leading to a pathologist who stated in May 2024 that the cause of his death was 'uncertain'.

It is more than eighteen-month after Mohbad's death since September 2023, and he is yet to be buried and also the result of his autopsy is yet to be revealed which has sparked rumor among Nigerians if the police force is hiding something or delaying justice.
