How Asake Started His Music Career
As a child, Asake grew into theatre, so he was fond of it; his father used to be a singer, and his mother had a passion for dancing, not that any of the parents did it professionally, but as a hobby.
Asake confessed that he started as a dancer as a secondary student and loves dancing as much as singing. He could actually have opted for a career in dancing, but then the financial rewards music offers shifted his resolution.
"The main reason why I left dance is for the love of money. I know I want to be very honest. Dance is something that I love,” he said. “I can’t even do it without moving, but I feel like the kind of money I want, I’m not sure dance can give me. I think both music and dance work together because, in a video without a dancer, it’s like this song is boring," he opened up.
Yehemole, a close associate and long time friend of Asake, noticed his growing buzz and unique sound and knew he had to introduce him to Olamide this was in mid 2020. Olamide was impressed with Asake’s raw talent and decided to support his journey. This eventually led to Asake signing a deal with YBNL, which kickstarted his mainstream success.
