Generally, marriage is the union of two people to become husband and wife. And there are various kinds of marriage relationships, monogamy- is the marriage of one man and one wife while Polygamy is the marriage of one man and more than one wife.

Despite the horror stories of polygamy and the adverse effect on society, children, and the world, some Nollywood actors have decided to tread the path of Polygamy. Some of these celebrity Nigerians are from the Yoruba acting industry and others are from the Igbo speaking.

While a polygamous marriage may have worked well for a few of these Nollywood actors, for others all hell has been loose.

Take a look at Yul Edochie and 4 other Nollywood actors that are married to more than one woman.

1. Yul Edochie

Popular Nollywood actor and son of veteran actor Yul Edochie is married to May Aligwe and has 3 sons and a daughter. Their names are Kambi Edochie, Dani Edochie, Karl Edochie, and Victory Zane Chukwubuike Yul Edochie.

Recently Adichie announced the arrival of his son with his second wife, Judy Moghalu via his Instagram page on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

"It’s time for the world to meet my son. His name is STAR DIKE MUNACHIMSO YUL-EDOCHIE. Born by my second wife @judyaustin1 And I love him so much, just as much as I love my other children," he captioned the photo. Judy Austin is a fellow Nollywood Actress.

The 40-year old Nigerian actor's second wife announcement met with massive online resistance. While some labeled him a fraud and a traitor others have simply blamed Judy Austin for swaying Yul's attention to herself.

In a more bitter reaction May Edochie, Yul's first wife of 17 years blasted her husband's post in the comment section.

She wrote, “May God judge you both.”

Funny enough, May gave hints about troubles in her marriage in November 2021 after she shared a cryptic message on IG.

In the message, she advised men to cater to women who had been there for them in their low moments.

Other celebrities have dropped their two cents on the matter. Uche Maduagwu, a Nigerian actor also expressed displeasure at Yul's announcement and told him there was no way he would ever become president.

Yul Edochie had earlier expressed interest to run for the Presidency in 2023.
