Memory lane: Anthony Joshua sighted jogging on the streets of Lagos

Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua intensified his connection to his homeland through his recent Lagos-based activities. The streets of Lagos saw Anthony Joshua jogging on April 10, 2025 without his usual heavy security detail.

Fans observed the two-time world heavyweight champion exercising in Lagos state without his usual security detail. Videos circulating online showed a lot of his Lagos fans cheering him and also taking photos of him as he jogged.

Also after the jogging Anthony Joshua used his X account to thank his fans that turned up for him during his jogging activities, he wrote on X about his love for the boxing game and how that has kept him going, vowing not to give up for the sake of his fans.

In another twist of events, Anthony Joshua utilized a Lagos street barber's services while offering him a considerable compensation. Anthony Joshua shared the process of the barbing on social media with his fans, and this has got Nigerians talking. Many online users applauded Anthony Joshua's humble personality but others thought the local barber did not properly style his hair. 

For instance, Ruth, one of his followers on Tiktok reacted ; AJ paid for a haircut in Lagos, that's real humility and class right there, while Godwin was not only wishing he was there presently to witness, he wishes that he was the one barbing the Heavyweight champion, he believes that he would have done a better job. A lot of Nigerians believes that the barber missed out on a lifetime opportunity

The above events are not news when it comes to Anthony Joshua. He has always created opportunities to visit Nigeria and when possible relate with his fans, friends and relatives.

Anthony Joshua visited Nigeria in late 2024 and participated in various activities. He traveled to his home location in Ogun State during December 2024 and received a welcoming reception from his community members.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State also selected Anthony Joshua as the torchbearer for the National Sports Festival which will take place sometime in 2025. The Governor also declared plans to build an indoor boxing facility in his honor.
