The African musical genre in Nigeria continues to grow by producing fresh musical styles and talented artists. The Uzama brothers represent the newest musical sensations with their members Shalipopi and Zerry DL and Famous Pluto.
Their recent success has achieved chart-dominating status in their region and started an intriguing fan discussion about their similarities to the famous American hip-hop group Migos. Famous Pluto's debut single "Na Scra" combined with the media hype around him created a compelling connection between the Uzama brothers and Migos
Shalipopi and Zerrydl
Shalipopi became the first member of the group to gain significant popularity among listeners. Shalipopi succeeded in releasing his first single "Gra Gra" to the public in late 2021. Shalipopi launched his music career in March 2023 with "Elon Musk" which became a breakout hit that showcased his Afro-Pluto musical blend of Nigerian Street Pop, Afrobeats and Amapiano alongside his rap style.
In October 2023 Shalipopi established Plutomania Records which marked his first major achievement by signing his brother Zerry DL. In 2023 Shalipopi released his debut EP "Planet Pluto" through Plutomania Records followed by the successful album "Presido La Pluto" which came out in November of that same year.
The musical career of Zerry DL (Shalipopi's brother) started in 2015. The breakthrough moment for Zerry DL arrived in 2023 when he released "Puff & Pass" on July 9th. This song became his first Nigeria TurnTable 100 chart entry at position number 39. The track became Zerry DL's initial song to enter the Nigeria TurnTable 100 charts when it started at place number 39.
The recording deal with Plutomania Records enhanced his position as an established music artist. The Puff & Pass remix featuring Shalipopi that dropped in October 2023 caused an explosion in his popularity because the music video reached 5 million views on YouTube by November 2024. Zerry DL developed his musical career by releasing his debut EP "Danger Zee" in December 2023.
Shalipoi and his brother, Famous Pluto
In March 2025, Famous Pluto made the the Uzama brothers a Trio by releasing his first single "Na Scra". The new Afrobeats song has been a national sensation and also notably Wizkid and Davido the Afrobeat giant has reposted Famous Pluto songs. Wizkid posted the Famous Pluto song on Instagram, hinting that it is the current song that he is vibing to.
while Davido was seen in his Luxury car dancing to the viral "Na scra" by Famous Pluto
This recognition from the two afrobeat giant had made the song go even more viral as it was streamed by wizkid Fc and Davido fans.
Afrobeat fans from across Nigeria now compare the Benin boys music alongside the disbanded trio Migos.
Migos established their position as Atlanta's trap scene leaders and had a unique way of rapping and so did the Uzama brothers, they maintain the "nonchalant swagger of Benin City" and their strong commitment to their cultural origins of benin is what makes their Fans love them more.
Several fans have established connections between Migos members and Uzama brothers by comparing Shalipopi to Quavo, Zerry DL to Offset and Famous Pluto to Takeoff.
An X influencer believes that it is not fair that 3 brothers can be talented in singing like that.
To answer the influencer Omar Atthah said "i lover their Uniqueness, very different and yet enjoyable" also Boy alone said "Shalipopi, Zerrydl and Famous Pluto.... Nigga Migos"
Is Shalipopi, Zerrydl and Famous Pluto Nigeria's Migos ?
Well, the three brothers might become Nigeria's Migos if they choose to fly under the same name, but one thing for sure is that they are bringing in Migos type of collaboration, taking into consideration they all do same type of music, sound, rap and melodies just like the Migos and also they are blood relatives.
They might achieve more if they come together under one umbrella (which is the wish of many Nigerians) but history has shown that Duos and Trios never really end in bliss. Nigerians saw this in P-square and the world witnessed it with the Migos, the Jackson Five and Beyonce.
Finally, it is best if Shalipopi, Zerrydl and Famous Pluto stick to what makes them unique - the individuality.
