Portable arrested by Kwara state police

On April 13, 2025, Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola better known as Portable got detained by the Kwara State Police Command in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The arrest of Portable happened after Fuji legendary King, Saheed Osupa submitted a petition which alleged criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement and behavior that created a public order disturbance against Portable. 

How the Fight between Portable and Saheed Osupa started

Osupa's management flagged Portable's song on streaming platforms due to copyright violations causing its removal from these platforms which started the conflict. Through social media Portable launched an angry response that insulted Osupa by saying he was worthless and challenged his position in the music business. 

The Kwara state law enforcement arrested Portable while he was on live stream when he came to Ilorin, they have also released an official statement on why they apprehended him.

After Portable apprehension in Ilorin which is in Kwara State, the Law enforcement authorities made sure that Portable provided his statement under legal presence from both parties for his upcoming court prosecution process began. 

Portable sought to amend his mistake by posting an apology statement on Instagram while attributing his behavior to money-driven rage and anger, claiming that he is sorry if he had offended anyone.

Portable's message to his followers included an urgent request to deliver an apology to King Saheed Osupa. The desire for money deliberately attempted to make our dispute happen.

Portable pleaded with his supporters to convey his sincere apologies to the music legend, Saheed Osupa. Portable also said in one of his post that he had made three apology post, all to no avail.

The public reception to his apology remained doubtful because users on social media questioned his sincerity behind the words. 

Online comments indicated that this statement did not qualify as an apology. While some users believed that those that were against Burna boy's detention of Akpi and supported the arrest of portable are hypocritical
